St Mary’s is a Chapel of Ease in the parish of Warton, built to serve Borwick and Priest Hutton. It was built between the two villages in the 1890s, funded by the Sharp family whose descendants still live in Borwick.

The church is a simple building, with fine pews and excellent stained glass windows by Shrigley and Hunt of Lancaster.

The church is able to use the Borwick and Priest Hutton Memorial Hall, which is just over the road, for parking and to hire for occasional events.
